Trajectory

Jen has been training dogs for about 14 years, since graduating college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Behavior, Training & Enrichment with a concentration on canine behavior. Jen always loved animals, especially dogs & grew up with many, many animals as she and her mom were always rescuing needy pets. The passion for training dogs started in high school when Jen rescued Piper, a Border Collie/Lab mix who became a ‘project’ and they went on to become a certified therapy dog team visiting nursing homes, schools & libraries. If it wasn’t for Piper, Jen wouldn’t be working for Dogwise Academy today!

After college, I started my career working for a non-profit service dog organization for many years managing the puppy raising program. This gave me hands on experience training puppies & helping the volunteers who were raising them in their homes. I then decided to make the move to working with adolescent dogs training service dogs who were in their second year of training. I also got the privilege to then place these dogs with our nations veterans & first responders to help them live a more independent live. The experience I gained training the humans, not just the dogs, during these years has helped me tremendously in my career. For the last few years, before coming to Dogwise, I’ve been training both pet dogs & service dogs for a local facility. I’ve been able to expand my skills as a dog trainer, working with many different breeds & behavioral issues. When not training, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially riding motorcycles with my husband. My dogs Jet, George & Josie are excited to help train your dogs and play together!
